In an inspiring show of leadership and compassion, the Queen Mother of Atwima Trabuom, Nana Akua Nkrumah Adasa I, marked this year’s Mother’s Day by enrolling more than 1,000 women onto Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The event, which took place at the Atwima Trabuom community center, attracted a large crowd, with many praising the Hemaa for her vision and dedication to improving women’s healthcare access.

Speaking during the occasion, Nana Akua Nkrumah Adasa I explained that the initiative was aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and alleviating the financial burdens that often prevent women from seeking medical attention.

“Today, as we celebrate mothers — the heart of every home — it is important that we move beyond mere words and demonstrate our love through actions that can change lives. By providing these NHIS cards, we are giving our women the gift of health and peace of mind,” she stated.

She further noted that healthy mothers mean healthy families, stressing that when women are protected, the whole community prospers.
