A Koforidua Circuit Court has sentenced a 43-year-old fetish priest to 15 years in jail for using fake money to deceive others.
Following his own-plea conviction, Richard Vormowor, also known as Nana Buame, will perform hard labor to complete his prison sentence.
He was wanted by the authorities in connection with many instances of money-doubling fraud.
Chief Inspector Solomon Keelson, the prosecutor, stated in court that the Koforidua District Police Command recently received multiple reports of money-doubling fraud.
He claims that the authorities searched the Hyundai minibus at the Nkurakan police checkpoint on April 5 at around 1300 hours.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was inside the car when it was extensively inspected.
Seven bundles of $20 notes and two bundles of $10 notes that the cops believed to be counterfeit money belonged to the convict were recovered during the operation.
As soon as possible, Richard was detained and sent to the Koforidua Central Police Station.
He confirmed under questioning that the money was counterfeit, revealing that the bundles were comprised of white sheets that he had cut into the appropriate proportions and had been embossed with the cash to resemble genuine notes.
He was his route to scam innocent people in Koforidua using his deceptive money-doubling schemes.
He was charged with preparing to commit a crime, namely deceiving under false pretenses, and entered a guilty plea in court after being arraigned.
The false currency was to be burned on the court grounds, per the judge’s instruction.
