Zongo Vote Campaigners Declare Solidarity with Dr. Bawumia Following 2024 Election Results

In a press conference held today in Kumasi, the Zongo Vote Campaigners, a prominent group within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), officially declared their unwavering support, loyalty, and confidence in Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP in the recently concluded 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections. The group praised Dr. Bawumia for his dignified acceptance of the election results and extended their commitment to his political vision.

Addressing members of the press, the secretary for Zongo Vote Campaigners Alhaji Abdul Mumin Castro commended Dr. Bawumia for his exemplary leadership, particularly his decision to concede defeat to former President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a manner that was both dignified and patriotic. “Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated a sense of patriotism over individualism, showing humility, maturity, and civility. This is an act that is worthy of emulation in the interest of democratic consolidation,” the spokesperson stated.

In the same breath, the group acknowledged that while the results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) showed a narrow victory for the NDC, it was not the opposition party’s performance that hindered the NPP’s success. “The NDC did not perform better than the NPP based on the final declared results. It was rather our own party members that disappointed us,” the statement read.

Despite the outcome, the Zongo Vote Campaigners refrained from placing blame on any individuals, instead urging the party’s top leadership to conduct a thorough evaluation of the situation. The group emphasized the need for a stock-taking exercise to analyze the root causes of voter apathy, particularly within NPP strongholds, and to develop appropriate strategies moving forward.

“We urge the party leadership to take immediate steps in evaluating the reasons for the massive voter apathy in our strongholds and take corrective measures to ensure future success,” the spokesperson added.

Reaffirming their commitment to Dr. Bawumia, the group expressed continued solidarity with the Vice President and emphasized their belief in his vision for the country. They also noted their faith in Allah, asserting that they remain confident that with patience and persistence, all things will work together for the good of those who believe in God, even in the face of adversity.

The press conference also included expressions of appreciation to key individuals who supported the Zango Vote Campaign. The group extended their gratitude to Hajia Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, for her tireless efforts and dedication. They encouraged her to continue her support for her husband, with the hope that Dr. Bawumia would once again lead the NPP in 2028 and potentially become the first Muslim President of Ghana, Insha’Allah.

Special recognition was given to Imam Alhassan Salifu, the chairman of the Zango Vote Campaigners, for his significant contributions to funding the group’s activities throughout the Ashanti region’s Zangos. The group acknowledged the sacrifices made by Imam Salifu and his pivotal role in ensuring the success of their campaign efforts.

Lastly, the Zango Vote Campaigners expressed profound gratitude to all the executives and members who contributed tirelessly to the campaign. “We cannot forget the unwavering efforts and cooperation of all our executives and members who worked tirelessly to make this campaign a success,” the spokesperson concluded.

As the group continues to rally behind Dr. Bawumia, they remain hopeful for the future and anticipate a strong comeback in the 2028 elections, with the ultimate goal of seeing Dr. Bawumia lead the NPP once again.

“May Allah continue to bless, protect, and guide H.E. Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, and may He preserve him for us in 2028,” the Zango Vote Campaigners concluded.
