Popular controversial TV and radio host, Captain Smart, live on his usual Onua TV’s ‘maakye’ morning show makes a good statement to a particular chief in Ghana. According to Captain Smart, he is the only chief who prohibited illegal minining in his area so as not to destroy his land and destroy his region at large.
‘I have to congratulate one chief among the few in Ghana who has been bold enough to stand against illegal mining popularly known as ‘ galamsey’ in his area. I am speaking of the chief of ‘Dormaa’ whose name is Osaagyefo Agyemang Badu in the Bono Ahafo region also known as ‘Dormaahene’. This chief(Osaagyefo Agyemang Badu) has been able to stand against illegal mining in his area and there is nothing of such sort over there. You(‘Dormaahene’) are indisputably the wisest chief ever not to allow NPP’s ‘galamsey’ in your area’, Captain Smart tells Chief of ‘Dormaa’.
According to Captain Smart, other regions have been exploited and destroyed due to the illegal mining ongoing and if you doubt him, you can go and check ‘Dormaa’ in the Bono Ahafo Region of Ghana. There are a lot of chiefs who cannot control illegal mining because they are direct beneficiaries and hence pretend to fight illegal mining, says Captain Smart.
