Yonso M/A Primary Wins 2025 Omene Bour Nana Super Cup, Bags GH¢1,000 and Educational Scholarship

Yonso M/A Primary School has emerged victorious at the 2025 Omene Bour Nana Inter Primary School Super Cup, claiming the coveted championship title, a cash prize of GHS 1,000, and an educational scholarship for the Man of the Match that covers schooling from primary to Senior High School (SHS). The tournament, which featured Yonso Islamic Primary, Yonso United Primary, and Yonso M/A Primary, brought together the Yonso community in a spirited celebration of youth talent, sportsmanship, and education.

The championship match saw Yonso M/A Primary display remarkable teamwork, skill, and determination, ultimately earning them the top spot. The victory underscores the dual focus of the tournament: promoting football excellence while encouraging academic achievement through scholarships for outstanding performers.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Baffour Oduro Boahen, Chief of Yonso, congratulated the champions and commended all participants for their discipline and sportsmanship. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Elder Emmanuel Osei Tawia, popularly known as Omene Bour, for organizing the tournament and providing a platform for young talent to flourish.

Douglas Boateng, President of the Yonso Fun Club, emphasized that the Super Cup is part of a broader effort to empower youth in the Mampong constituency, highlighting its role in fostering teamwork, community unity, and personal development.

 

The event also received support from Hon. Yakubu Issifu, Municipal Chief Executive for Asante Mampong, who donated two footballs to participating schools. He encouraged pupils to balance sports and academics, reminding them that excelling in both areas is essential for long-term success.

The victory of Yonso M/A Primary has been widely celebrated by the community, which views the Super Cup as a positive initiative for youth engagement, educational advancement, and community cohesion. Residents expressed optimism that future editions would continue to discover and nurture young football stars while reinforcing the importance of education.
