The Bible is the word of God and it teaches Christians how to behave under different circumstances. It also tells us what God expects from us as our Father and reminds us that He still loves His children. There are different teachings in the Bible but today we will focus on what the Bible says about marrying more than one wife.
There are different circumstances that push a man to marry multiple wives and they may include traditional practices, and personal desires, or the woman may be suffering from infertility. Polygamy mostly leads to jealousy, and loneliness among women. There are some people in the Bible who married multiple wives for example Abraham and Elkana who married Hannah and Peninah.
1 Timothy 3:2 says “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior given to hospitality, apt to teach.” This clearly shows that God prefers Christians to marry one wife. 1 Corinthians 7:2 says “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his wife, and let every woman have her husband.” According to Jesus’ teachings in Luke 16:18, anyone who marries multiple wives is committing adultery
