We shall train 1 million Coding Professionals with in-demand digital skills – John Mahama

Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has said that the NDC will train one million Ghanaian youth to become coding professionals when the party wins the 2024 elections.

The NDC’s flagbearer made this remark during an interaction with journalists in Accra on Sunday, July 7.

John Mahama noted that this forms part of the party’s plan to bridge the digital gap among Ghanaian youth.

“The NDC promises you this: we shall train One Million Coding Professionals in in-demand digital skills for the growing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing ecosystems, ensuring no one is left behind in the digital revolution,” he said.

John Mahama emphasized that the digital revolutionary agenda cannot be achieved if there is a consistent digital gap or bridge.

“When we talk about the digital revolution, we also need to talk about the digital divide – about those who are left behind. On my watch, I will do whatever it takes to provide universal access and bridge the digital divide in our country.  We shall close the digital gap,” he added.

John Mahama further promised to create more jobs in the digital space. He said under his administration, 300,000 employment opportunities will be created in the digital space.

He also promised that gender equality will be a key feature in his administration should he be voted for in this year’s elections.
