Wassa Amenfi East MCE Breaks Ground for Multiple School, Borehole Projects

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Wassa Amenfi East in the Western Region, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah has taken a significant step towards improving educational infrastructure and access to clean water in the municipality.

He recently cut the sod for several school projects and borehole initiatives, funded by the District Assembly Common Fund.

The projects aimed at benefiting ten deprived communities include the construction of 10 boreholes and 10 no. 3-unit classroom block.

This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the learning environment and provide potable drinking water for residents.

In a symbolic ceremony at the Wassa Akropong M/A basic ‘A’ school, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, accompanied by NDC officials and community leaders, officially inaugurated the projects.

The beneficiary communities include Nyamebekyere, Kojofada, Asesensu, Bonakrom, Dompoase, Baidekrom/Ayigyekrom, Kyebikrom, Gyedua, Mensakrom, and Jonjoso.

Speaking to journalists after the sod cutting, the MCE explained that the projects have been awarded to local contractors from Wassa Amenfi East, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to empower local construction firms.

The Amenfi East MCE emphasized that the projects are not expected to experience delays, thanks to the timely release of funds from the District Assembly Common Fund, for which he expressed gratitude to President Mahama and the fund’s administrators.

Hon. Ebbah reiterated the Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly’s commitment to training, mentoring, and empowering local contractors in the district.

This initiative, he explained, aims to enhance the assembly’s localised construction capabilities and contribute to the local economy’s growth in Amenfi East.

Hon. Ebbah expressed optimism that the projects will be completed on schedule for six months, barring unforeseen circumstances, and tasked the contractors to prioritize local employment opportunities.

The Municipal Chief Executive tasked the contractors working on the ongoing school and borehole projects to use quality building and plumbing materials and ensure value for money.

He promised to conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure that the contractors deliver good work.

Nana Ebbah has assured the people of Wassa Amenfi East of accountability and transparency in utilizing the assembly’s common fund.

He pledged to undertake several social amenities to address infrastructure and socio-economic challenges gfacing the district.
