Wan-Hive Ghana and KGL Foundation Empower Young Athletes

Wan-Hive Ghana and KGL Foundation have organized a sporting competition for seven basic schools in Sunyani in the Bono Region as part of their SportHer project.

The participating schools included Dumasua Methodist JHS, Dumasua Presby JHS, Dumasua R/C JHS, Kyem Amponsah Senior High School Fiapre Methodist ‘A’ JHS Fiapre Presby JHS, and Notre Dame Girls’ Model School.

The CEO of Wan-Hive Ghana Foundation, Janat Issifu, emphasized KGL and Wan-Hive’s commitment to improving lives through sustainable corporate social responsibility.

She highlighted the SportHer Project’s goal of empowering female students in schools and unearthing their talents.

Janat Issifu expressed confidence that the collaboration between KGL Foundation and Wan-Hive Ghana will lead to the development of exceptional athletes, citing the likes of Christiano Ronaldo.

She told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm that the event aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents in sports like lime on spoon, safety mechanism, basketball, volleyball, and sack racing.

She revealed that schools in the Bono Region lack sporting tools and infrastructure, prompting KGL and Wan-Hive to organize the event.

According to her, this initiative aims to help pupils socialize and showcase their talents, following mentorship from facilitators sponsored by Wan-Hive and KGL.

The CEO of Wan-Hive Ghana Foundation, Janat Issifu, urged the government to provide sporting logistics and infrastructure in schools to enhance activities.

Janat Issifu emphasized that a lack of basic sporting logistics and infrastructure in basic schools hinders pupils’ ability to exhibit their talents.

She also appealed to philanthropists and stakeholders to support the cause and promote a maintenance culture.

Participating pupils received certificates and medals, with Issifu expressing hope that the experience will improve their skills and secure their future.

Madam Alberta Oppong Agyemang, Regional Physical Education and Sports Organizing Secretary, advised students to leverage their skills to boost confidence and teamwork.
