Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Hosts NDC Functional Executives—Calls for Renewed Unity and Support for Mahama’s National Reset Agenda

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, today welcomed the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a powerful engagement aimed at strengthening party unity and reaffirming the NDC’s collective mission ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The delegation, led by NDC National Chairman Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and General Secretary Hon. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, included other distinguished leaders of the party who paid a courtesy call on the Vice President to extend their goodwill and assure her of the party’s unwavering support and solidarity.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who made history as Ghana’s first female Vice President, expressed her deep appreciation for the visit and the continued prayers and encouragement she receives from the party’s leadership.

“I am sincerely grateful to the National Chairman, the General Secretary, and the entire Functional Executive Committee for this visit. Your prayers, solidarity, and presence today are not just symbolic—they reaffirm the deep-rooted spirit of family and unity that defines the NDC,” she said.

She used the opportunity to highlight the value of internal cohesion and mutual respect within the party, stating that these qualities are essential for success—especially as the NDC prepares to restore hope and good governance to Ghanaians.

“In moments of difficulty, it is our unity that keeps us grounded. Let us hold on to that unity. Let us protect the family spirit that runs through the heart of this party,” the Vice President emphasized.

The discussions also centered around the NDC’s “National Reset Agenda,” a visionary initiative being spearheaded by the party’s Flagbearer, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. Professor Opoku-Agyemang underscored the urgent need for renewed dedication and collective effort from all levels of the party to ensure its success.

“We have begun meaningful work—work that will correct the wrongs, restore dignity, and rebuild this country. That mission requires all hands on deck. I call on all of us to stay focused and committed to the national reset agenda led by President Mahama,” she said.

The NDC executives, in turn, assured the Vice President of their full backing and pledged to intensify their efforts across the country to mobilize grassroots support and deliver victory in 2024.

The visit concluded on a high note, with mutual affirmations of trust, unity, and determination to reclaim Ghana’s destiny through effective leadership, inclusive development, and good governance.

As the country gears up for a decisive election, the strong display of solidarity between the Vice President and the party’s leadership is a clear signal that the NDC remains firmly aligned, focused, and prepared to deliver real change.
