Upper West Akim MP Prioritises Education with Mock Exam Support for BECE Candidates

The Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Drah, has once again demonstrated his commitment to improving education outcomes in his constituency by supporting the Ghana Education Service (GES) with mock examination materials for final-year Junior High School (JHS) students.

The support, which involves externally set mock examination questions, is aimed at preparing students adequately for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This intervention forms part of the MP’s broader vision of empowering the youth through education and creating opportunities for academic excellence.

In a brief presentation ceremony held at the Municipal Education Directorate, Hon. Drah handed over the materials to education officials and highlighted the significance of early and effective preparation for national examinations. According to him, this initiative is part of his annual educational support programme designed to close learning gaps and build student confidence.

“Our children deserve the best. Through this mock examination, we are giving them a real taste of what to expect in the BECE, helping them to identify their strengths and weaknesses early,” Hon. Drah stated. “This is not just about passing exams; it’s about building a solid academic foundation for their future.”

The Municipal Director of Education and his team expressed their gratitude for the MP’s continuous support, describing the gesture as timely and impactful. They noted that the mock examination would help teachers to assess student performance more accurately and plan targeted revisions ahead of the final exams.

Teachers and school heads across the district have hailed the initiative as a game-changer. Many believe that such interventions are crucial in improving the quality of basic education and bridging the academic performance gap between urban and rural schools.

Beyond this mock exam support, Hon. Drah reiterated his commitment to educational development in the district, pledging to work hand-in-hand with the Education Directorate, school administrators, and community stakeholders to enhance teaching and learning conditions.

This latest gesture adds to a growing list of educational interventions by the MP, including the provision of learning materials, classroom infrastructure, and teacher support initiatives. His efforts continue to earn him praise from constituents as a leader who understands the power of education in transforming lives and communities.
