UP Africa Movement Holds Workshop in Kumasi to Equip Youth with Online Trading Skills for Business Growth and Financial Independence

The UP Africa Movement has taken a bold step toward empowering young artisans and entrepreneurs in Kumasi and beyond by introducing a digital training initiative aimed at transforming traditional businesses through online trading. The initiative forms part of the organization’s broader mission to promote financial independence and sustainable business growth among local artisans.
Through this project, participants are being equipped with the skills needed to take their businesses online, access global markets, and expand their customer base beyond local boundaries. The initiative, in collaboration with leading e-commerce platforms, is helping to remove long-standing barriers that have limited artisans from participating in the digital economy.
Trainees are receiving practical instruction in key areas such as digital marketing, customer engagement, product branding, bookkeeping, and inventory management. These topics are tailored to help artisans manage online businesses effectively and scale them sustainably.
Beyond training, the UP Africa Movement is also partnering with financial institutions to provide access to capital. These financing opportunities are linked to the performance of artisans on trading platforms, ensuring that dedicated and high-performing entrepreneurs receive the support they need to grow.
Addressing the media at the workshop of the initiative, Mr. David Okofo Megga, Chief Executive Officer of the UP Africa Movement, highlighted the program’s transformative potential. “We are not just teaching skills; we are creating pathways for wealth, independence, and economic transformation,” he stated. “Artisans who embrace digital trading will see measurable improvements in income and overall business growth.”
Mr. Megga further noted that with the right digital tools and financial support, artisans would be able to expand their product offerings, employ more people, and contribute meaningfully to their communities’ development.
Participants at the recent seminar expressed their appreciation for the program, describing it as both eye-opening and timely. Many shared how the training had inspired them to take bold steps toward digitizing their businesses and exploring international markets.
The UP Africa Movement remains committed to championing inclusive development through innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. With the successful launch of this initiative in Kumasi, the organization plans to scale the program to other regions across Africa in the near future.
