A newly constructed Police Station at Tebibiano in Obom and Domeabra Constituency in Accra has been down by some unknown persons. The is no Police Station in these two constituencies and as a result of that, there are lots of land guard issues and other related crimes in those communities. The Government then built a Police station there which was dated to be commissioned come Wednesday.
Unfortunately, some persons went there and set the building on fire, destroying some furniture that has been bought and other appliances. According to an assemblyman in the area, Jonas Kwabena Tenge, petrol could be smelt around the building and it was deduced that someone might have poured petrol round about the Police station and set it on fire, even though there were other houses around.
Six chairs which were bought to furnish the building have been destroyed. The distraction looked like it was done from the inside, meaning the person entered the building and cause this havoc. The chief of the area, Nii Quashie Amponsah said it had been his desire for a long time for his town to have a Police station.
Just when they were putting things in place to commission the Police station on Wednesday, an unknown person has destroyed all that they began to do. The MCE for Ga West Municipality, Hon Joseph Nyani, also said that they had even brought the Greater Accra regional police commander to inspect the building and it was set for use.
The Municipality had gone to look for a place where the Policemen would be residing. But all their efforts are now in vain. Policemen from Weija and Domeabra have inspected the scene and the extent of the damage. Nonetheless, no arrests have been made but the Police assured that justice will be served. The Government now has pay extra cost to rebuild the Police Station.
