Two drown in River Offin: Atwima Mponua DCE commiserates with bereaved families

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, has expressed deep sorrow and sympathy to the families of two men who tragically drowned while attempting to cross the River Offin during a heavy rainstorm this week.
Speaking on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the DCE visited the affected families and offered his condolences.
The deceased, Mr. Kofi Twum, 45, and Mr. Alex Achiampong, 42, were among six individuals swept away by the swollen river.
Fortunately, four others were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at the Nyinahin Government Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have since been retrieved and sent for autopsy.
This incident brings back painful memories of a similar tragedy that occurred four years ago in the same area, claiming four lives.
Hon. Ibrahim Issahak is called on the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and other relevant agencies to urgently intervene and help the Achiaseman community implement lasting safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
Hon. Alhaji Abdul Mahama, NADMO Director for Atwima Mponua, expressed gratitude to the residents of Achiase for their support during the rescue and recovery efforts.
He assured them that steps will be taken to strengthen disaster preparedness in the area.
The Assembly Member for the Achiase-Atuntuma Electoral Area, Hon. Agyenim Boateng, also expressed concern over the recurring nature of such tragedies.
He called on the Assembly and central government to support the affected families in these difficult times and work toward improving safety infrastructure around the River Offin.
