Traditional Authority, Assemblyman Unite Behind Akutuase Social Centre Initiative

Traditional authorities and local government leadership in Akutuase have jointly rallied behind an ambitious Social Centre initiative as residents of the community demonstrate strong commitment to self-driven development in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region.

The initiative took centre stage at the Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony organized in support of the construction of an ultra-modern Social Centre for the people of Akutuase. The project is expected to provide a multipurpose facility for social, cultural, educational and developmental activities, while strengthening community unity and local governance.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief of Akutuase, Nana Asare Bediako, commended residents for their unity, dedication and financial support towards the project. He described the Social Centre as a symbol of collective responsibility and urged the people to sustain the spirit of togetherness that has characterized the community’s development efforts.

Nana Asare Bediako noted that meaningful development begins at the community level when residents take ownership of projects that directly improve their welfare. He encouraged natives of Akutuase, both at home and abroad, to continue supporting the initiative until its successful completion.

The Akutuasehene also used the occasion to advocate for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a critical tool for national development. He urged parents and guardians to encourage the youth to pursue technical and vocational careers, stressing that TVET equips young people with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

According to Nana Asare Bediako, TVET remains a game changer for Ghana’s development, as the country’s progress depends largely on a skilled workforce capable of driving industrial growth and innovation.

On behalf of the Akutuase Harvest Committee, Mr. Hanson Gyimah gave a detailed briefing on the Social Centre project. He explained that the facility is being designed as a multipurpose hall to host meetings, ceremonies, training programmes and other community engagements.

Mr. Gyimah stated that the project is being financed through proceeds from the annual harvest, voluntary contributions and donations from residents and sympathizers. He appealed for sustained support to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and to the desired standard.

The Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Samuel Asafo Adjei, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of collaboration between traditional authorities, residents and local government in driving development.

Hon. Asafo Adjei appealed to all Akutuase residents, especially those living outside the community, to contribute towards the Social Centre project, describing it as a legacy investment that will serve generations to come. He assured the community of his continued commitment to advocating for development projects and working with all stakeholders to improve living conditions in the area.

The Annual Harvest and Fundraising Ceremony recorded impressive participation from residents, opinion leaders and stakeholders, reflecting the shared resolve of the people of Akutuase to take charge of their development agenda through unity, partnership and visionary leadership.
