TMD ROYALS Empowers Over 160 Girls with Sanitary Pads on Menstrual Hygiene Day in Nsawam-Adoagyiri

In a powerful display of compassion and advocacy, TMD ROYALS, a non-profit organisation led by social impact advocate Theresa Moreena Darko, commemorated Menstrual Hygiene Day with a far-reaching outreach program that directly impacted the lives of over 160 young girls in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality.

The organization visited three key institutions — Akwamu Presby School, Ntoaso SDA Basic School, and Theolak Orphanage Home — to educate and support young girls on the importance of menstrual hygiene management, a topic often shrouded in stigma and silence in many parts of Ghana.

During the outreach, the team distributed two packs of Soft Care sanitary pads to each of the 161 girls, totaling over 320 packs. In addition to the direct beneficiaries, Theolak Orphanage Home also received two boxes of Soft Care sanitary pads to support girls under their care.

The initiative, which forms part of the annual Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration on May 28, was designed not only to provide essential sanitary products but also to raise awareness about the need for open dialogue, education, and sustainable solutions to menstrual health challenges in underserved communities.

Speaking at one of the beneficiary schools, Theresa Moreena Darko, the founder of TMD ROYALS, emphasized the importance of such interventions in promoting confidence, dignity, and academic participation among girls.

“Reaching out to basic school students in deprived communities, especially during moments like this, boosts their confidence and helps them stay healthy and focused during class hours,” she said. “Menstruation should never be a barrier to education or self-esteem.”

She further appealed to individuals, philanthropists, and corporate organizations to support her organization’s new initiative — a “Pad Bank” project aimed at ensuring that no girl misses school due to a lack of menstrual hygiene products. “The Pad Bank will serve as a lifeline for many girls across deprived communities, offering regular access to sanitary products and menstrual health education. We can only do more with your support,” she added.

The Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration by TMD ROYALS aligns with global efforts to break taboos, educate the youth, and foster environments where menstruation is normalized and hygienically managed.

Many beneficiaries and school authorities expressed heartfelt appreciation to TMD ROYALS for the timely intervention, noting the significant difference it will make in the daily lives of the young girls.

As menstrual health continues to gain global recognition as a key factor in girls’ education and gender equality, initiatives like this by TMD ROYALS underscore the need for continuous grassroots action and policy support to empower every girl, regardless of her background.
