The Ashanti Region chapter of the Tertiary Students Consideration Network (TESCON), the student wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has successfully organized a one-day health screening and vaccination exercise for inmates at the Kumasi Prisons. The initiative, aimed at improving healthcare access for prisoners, highlights TESCON’s commitment to humanitarian service and social responsibility.

Speaking at the event, TESCON President, Opoku Yiadom Prince, explained that the program was designed to ensure inmates receive proper medical attention while encouraging public support for such initiatives. He called on individuals, institutions, and organizations across Ghana to collaborate in enhancing healthcare for vulnerable populations, stressing the importance of community-driven interventions.

National TESCON Patron, Mr. Frederick K. Nkansah (Yentumi), also addressed the gathering, advising citizens to adopt responsible lifestyles and avoid actions that could lead to incarceration. He emphasized that preventive awareness and personal responsibility are key to reducing crime and imprisonment.

The one-day exercise provided inmates with comprehensive health checks, vaccinations, and health education sessions, enabling timely medical attention and preventive care. Prison authorities worked closely with TESCON members to ensure that the program was conducted efficiently, safely, and with dignity for all participants.

This health screening exercise forms part of TESCON Ashanti Region’s broader commitment to community service, reinforcing the organization’s role not only in political engagement but also in promoting societal well-being and humanitarian support.
