Mr Albert Opoku, the Principal of Tepa Midwifery and Nursing college expressed gratitude to Dr Kingsley Agyemang, Registrar of Ghana Scholarship Secretariat (GSS), Tepa Traditional Council and individuals who wholeheartedly contributed immensely to the five years development plan of the school.
According to him, all those contributed in their own way of the five years development plan needs commendations to encourage others to emulate.
Dr Kingsley Agyemang, who lauded the Principal for the recognition however said, the current focus of the Scholarships Secretariat is Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and with the focus 70% of Scholarships are strictly for STEM Programmes, of which nursing is an essential component.
He announced a new partnership brokered by Ghana Scholarship Secretariat with the Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College, under which deserving students and staff of the college would be considered for financial support, as directed by the Chief of staff.
Dr. Agyemang, therefore, urged management of Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College to liaise with the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat for the operationalisation of the Chief of Staff’s directive.
Dr. Agyemang stressed the importance for student nurses to explore opportunities created by the government to finance academic work.
The GSS Registrar said the government is delivering on the largest investment in the healthcare infrastructure by the construction of regional hospitals in the six newly created regions, the Ghana Centre for infectious disease control for each of the three ecological Coastal, Northern and Middle belt zones, construction of 88 standard designed 100-bed hospitals with accommodation for doctors and nurses in the districts without hospitals.
Nana Dr. Adusei Atwerewaah Ampem II, The Chief of Tepa Traditional area in the Ashanti Region, has said the Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College was not like this when it was first opened.
He recommended that, the school started with thirty students at the beginning but can now boast of over thousands students which is very remarkable
The Tepa Chief was speaking during the Matriculation ceremony for appeals funding donations of three storie buildings materials and for a three storie buildings for the school mentioned that he is always going to support wherever programmer the school will come out with to send it to places.
He explained that the money that they are using for the project is not enough so it will be good for parents to also come in to help move it forward
The chief also advised those have left the school and are now working to come and donate so as to complete the project while those who have just completed have been advised to go out and work hard to come and support the school in future.
