Takorase Assembly Member Hon Dominic Bonsu Commissions and Hands Over Self-Funded GH¢30,000 Street Bridge

The Assembly Member for Takorase-Afraso Electoral Area in the Amansie South district of the Ashanti Region,Hon. Dominic Bonsu, has commissioned and officially handed over a newly constructed street bridge to the people of Manso Takorase, bringing relief to residents who for years struggled to access their homes safely.

The concrete bridge, constructed at a total cost of GH¢30,000, was fully funded from Hon. Bonsu’s personal resources. The project was delivered as part of a campaign promise he made to the people of Takorase when he sought their mandate to serve as Assembly Member.

For decades, the old wooden structure that linked parts of the community had been described as a “death trap.” It was weak, unsafe, and became nearly impassable during the rainy season, leaving many families cut off from their own homes. Children and the elderly were particularly at risk, with residents recounting several near-tragic incidents on the bridge.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Bonsu reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered leadership. “This bridge is not just a project; it is a promise fulfilled. I told my people during the campaign that I would tackle this problem, and today I am happy to deliver on that word. Leadership is about service, not position, and this is my way of putting the safety and welfare of the people first,” he said.

Traditional leaders, elders, and residents who gathered at the event were full of praise for Hon. Bonsu and the Unit Committee members for their dedication to the community’s well-being. They stressed that the new bridge would not only save lives but also restore dignity and peace of mind to the people.

According to the residents “This project is a blessing to Takorase. For many years, we lived in fear every time we crossed the old bridge, especially our children. Today, thanks to Hon. Bonsu’s sacrifice, we can go home without fear. We are truly grateful.”

Parents also expressed relief that their children could now return home safely without the daily danger of accidents. Others commended the Assembly Member for funding the project personally at a time when resources are scarce, describing his action as a true demonstration of selfless leadership.

The ceremony ended with traditional blessings and prayers for Hon. Bonsu and the Unit Committee, with residents pledging their continued support for his leadership. They also called on other leaders within the Amansie South District to emulate his example by initiating projects that directly improve the lives of the people.

The newly commissioned and handed-over bridge now stands as a symbol of safety, development, and responsive leadership in Manso Takorase, marking another milestone in Hon. Bonsu’s commitment to his people.
