A suspected mobile phone thief was found dead in Kotwi, located within the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, leaving residents deeply unsettled. The man, thought to be in his early thirties, was allegedly involved in a string of phone thefts in the area, sparking widespread concern among the community.
According to sources, the deceased was reportedly identified as a suspect in multiple phone-snatching incidents. He was said to have been pursued by several residents, and his body was later discovered without any clear indication of how he met his end. The police were not immediately on the scene, and authorities have yet to comment on the circumstances surrounding the death.
The incident has intensified concerns over the rising crime rate in the community, with many residents expressing their frustration at the increase in thefts. While acknowledging the anger over the recent spate of petty crimes, local residents are calling for the police to take immediate action to curb the rise of such incidents.
“We are all concerned about the thefts in the area, but we need to handle this issue through the law. The police must step up their efforts to ensure the safety of residents,” a concerned community member shared.

Additionally, the Unit Committee Chairman for the area called for increased awareness on crime prevention and the importance of residents cooperating with law enforcement to prevent further incidents.
