Sunyani: University of Energy and Natural Resources to get new medical school – Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed plans to establish a medical school at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani, with the aim of training doctors to serve the Bono Region and Ghana at large.

According to President John Dramani Mahama, the medical school, which would be anchored on the Sunyani Teaching Hospital, is expected to be funded through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

He noted that the significance of this development would provide a practical platform for training medical doctors.

In addition to the medical school, John Mahama announced plans to commence construction works on several key road projects in the Bono region.

“Important roads like the Sunyani inner and outer ring roads, the Catholic University road, the Berekum-Sampa road, the Sampa-Wenchi road, the Odumase-Badu road, Kyeremasu-Gambia Number 1 and 2 roads, the Sunyani-Techiman road, and the Kumasi-Sunyani road have all been included in our redevelopment plans,” he said.

He told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm that these road projects started during his previous term and were left unfinished when the government changed in 2017.

As a result, some communities remain cut off, delaying development in the Bono Region region.

He emphasized that his government is committed to accelerating national development through major infrastructure investments under the “Big Push” agenda.

He asserted that all the people involved in the National Cathedral project, including the clergy, must be investigated.

“I know you are continuing to do your work… His Excellency, $58 million was spent on the National Cathedral with nothing to show for it. Whether those involved are pastors, chiefs, or whoever they are, I don’t understand that. investigate it.
