Eugene Amo-Asamoah Honoured with Highest Youth in Environment Award at Millennium Excellence Awards

Eugene Amo-Asamoah, the dynamic Business Development Manager of the Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant (KCARP)—the largest facility of its kind in Africa—has been awarded the prestigious Youth in Environment Award at the 2025 Millennium Excellence Awards, held at the historic Manhyia Palace.
The Millennium Excellence Awards, organized by the Millennium Excellence Foundation, is one of Ghana’s most revered platforms for recognizing and rewarding exceptional individuals who have demonstrated excellence across various fields. This year’s ceremony was held under the distinguished patronage of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and Life Patron of the Foundation.
Eugene Amo-Asamoah received the Highest Honour in the Youth Category for his remarkable leadership and innovative contributions in the environmental and climate sustainability sector. His efforts in revolutionizing waste management systems, spearheading impactful recycling initiatives, and promoting eco-friendly practices have not only influenced communities within Ghana but have also made waves across borders.
In his capacity at KCARP, Eugene has led the implementation of numerous sustainable waste management projects across several districts, transforming how institutions and local governments manage their waste. He has played a central role in formulating comprehensive waste management strategies for both public and private institutions, ensuring environmentally compliant waste collection and disposal methods.
Eugene’s work doesn’t only focus on the environmental aspects. His initiatives are uniquely tailored to create economic empowerment for local communities by turning waste into valuable resources—offering jobs, training, and economic opportunity while keeping environments clean and livable.
In an interview after receiving the award, Eugene expressed his profound gratitude. “I am very humbled and honoured to have received the Highest Honour Award (Youth in Environment). My heartfelt gratitude goes to HRM, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and His distinguished Executive Board for this prestigious recognition,” he said.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, whose mentorship he credited as instrumental in his journey. He extended appreciation to his colleagues and team members for their collective contributions, as well as to his wife and children for their enduring support. “We all need to be responsible for our environment, and as such I would want to invite everyone to join me in the quest to make the environment a better place for all,” Eugene added. “This recognition will serve as a motivation to keep up with the good works I’ve been doing.”
The Millennium Excellence Foundation described Eugene as a trailblazer in youth-led environmental leadership and commended him for his outstanding dedication to climate action, green innovation, and national development.
The event was graced by several high-profile dignitaries, traditional leaders, corporate executives, and environmental advocates. Eugene’s award stands as a shining example of how young professionals can drive impactful change and contribute meaningfully to national and global sustainability goals.
