Subin-Akwaboso Rural Bank Breaks Records with GH¢3.86M Profit, Earns National Top 3 Spot

Subin-Akwaboso Rural Bank PLC has recorded its most impressive financial performance since inception, achieving a staggering 420% surge in profit before tax, which soared from GH¢741,526 in 2023 to GH¢3.86 million in 2024. This historic performance has earned the bank a prestigious 3rd-place ranking out of 147 rural banks across the country, as announced by the ARB Apex Bank.

The rural bank, headquartered in Subin-Akwaboso in the Ashanti Region, continues to solidify its reputation as a rising star in Ghana’s financial sector. The 2024 audited financial statement reflects exceptional growth across all major indicators, further affirming the institution’s operational strength, strategic focus, and customer-centric approach.

Unprecedented Growth Across All Key Indicators

According to the financial report, profit after tax saw an equally impressive leap, rising from GH¢664,052 in 2023 to GH¢3.47 million in 2024, underscoring strong cost management and operational efficiency.

Customer deposits more than doubled, surging from GH¢21.3 million to GH¢46.9 million, a sign of growing public trust in the bank’s services. Total assets jumped by over 120%, reaching GH¢53.1 million, while loans and advances grew to GH¢3.94 million, enabling the bank to deepen its support for small businesses and rural enterprises.

National Recognition & Awards

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Edward Anti Nyinaku, attributed the bank’s record-breaking performance to resilient leadership, prudent financial practices, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

“This achievement is not by chance—it is the result of deliberate planning, sound governance, and a hardworking team that believes in the future of this bank and the communities we serve,” Mr. Nyinaku stated.

He announced that Subin-Akwaboso Rural Bank had been officially ranked 3rd nationwide among rural banks by ARB Apex Bank, the umbrella body for rural and community banks in Ghana. This top-three national ranking follows the bank’s retention of its title as “Most Promising Rural Bank of the Year”, a testament to its consistent upward trajectory.

Expansion Strategy and Future Outlook

In line with its strategic vision, the bank is aggressively expanding its footprint to improve access to banking services in underserved areas. Mr. Nyinaku revealed that construction is underway for a new full-service branch at Diaso in the Central Region, scheduled to open by January 2026. In addition, an agency office is already operational at Domi Assamang in the Amansie South District, further reinforcing the bank’s commitment to rural financial inclusion.

“The days of urban-centric banking are behind us. We believe that every Ghanaian, regardless of location, deserves access to quality banking services. Our expansion plans are tailored to meet that belief,” Mr. Nyinaku added.

No Dividend Payout—Focus on Reserve Strengthening

Despite the extraordinary profit margins, the bank has opted not to declare dividends for the 2024 financial year. This decision aligns with a directive from the Bank of Ghana, aimed at strengthening the capital base and liquidity position of rural banks amid evolving regulatory standards.

“This is a strategic sacrifice for future gains. We believe a well-capitalized bank is better positioned to serve its customers sustainably and withstand economic shocks,” the Board Chairman explained.

Gratitude to Customers, Staff, and Stakeholders

Mr. Nyinaku extended heartfelt appreciation to the bank’s loyal customers, dedicated staff, and stakeholders for their unwavering support and contributions. He emphasized that the bank’s remarkable growth is a shared achievement and called for continued cooperation as Subin-Akwaboso aims to become the leading rural bank in Ghana.

“Our promise remains simple—we will continue to serve with integrity, innovation, and inclusiveness,” he said.
