Study Hard, Shun Exam Malpractices – Dr. Victor Gadri Urges 2025 BECE Candidates

Dr. Victor Gadri, a prominent businessman and Senior Presbyter of the Victory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Compound, Dunkwa-On-Offin, has issued a strong call to candidates sitting for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies to secure academic success.

Addressing the students and parents during a special church service on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, which marked the beginning of this year’s BECE, Dr. Gadri emphasized the importance of hard work and integrity, especially during examination periods. He charged the candidates to take their studies seriously and avoid all forms of examination malpractice.

“Let your success be the fruit of your own effort. Do not be tempted by shortcuts or any form of cheating. Remain focused and trust in the knowledge you have gained through your years of schooling,” he said.

The 2025 BECE commenced across the country on Wednesday, June 11, with a total of 603,328 candidates taking part in the examinations. The figure includes 297,250 males and 306,078 females from both public and private basic schools nationwide. The exam will run until June 17, covering various subjects crucial to the candidates’ placement into senior high schools.

Dr. Gadri also appealed to parents to play a more proactive role in the lives of their children during this critical academic period. He specifically urged parents to pay closer attention to their female wards to guide them against societal vices that could derail their educational journey.

“Parents must take a keen interest not only in the academic performance of their children but also in their social lives. Our girls especially need guidance, love, and protection to grow into responsible future leaders,” he advised.

He further prayed for the successful conduct of the exams and encouraged all stakeholders — including teachers, invigilators, and education authorities — to support the candidates in an environment of fairness and calm.

Dr. Gadri’s remarks come at a time when concerns over examination malpractices and increasing distractions among school-going youth remain key challenges in Ghana’s education sector.

As the examination progresses, his message stands as a timely reminder of the need for moral discipline, hard work, and strong family support in shaping the future of Ghanaian students.
