THE ULTIMATE Hostel at Bomso in Kumasi was on Friday turned into mourning grounds after a male student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) fell to his death from a two-storey building.
The student exact identity was not known to the paper when the story was being filed. He was said to be running away from security personnel of the hostel when calamity struck.
Accompanied to reports, the now-deceased student was smoking some dried leave substance, which was suspected to be ‘Wee’ or ‘Ganja’ in his hostel room that fateful day.
Some students in the hostel, allegedly, reported the Wee smoking incident to the security personnel at the hostel, who hurriedly rushed to the deceased’s room to arrest him.
Sensing danger, the male student, reportedly, attempted to jump from his room balcony to another balcony when he heard the security personnel banging at his door.
Unfortunately, the student slipped and fell from the two-storey building and landed heavily on the ground in a dangerous fashion whilst jumping to the other balcony.
Some people at the hostel were said to have to rushed the injured student to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life, but it was too late as he was declared dead on arrival.
The police have since commenced investigations into the case. So far, reports indicated that two students who were with the deceased student before the accident, have been invited for questioning.
