Strengthening Ashanti Power Supply: ECG Hosts Kumasi Ridge BSP Upgrade Pre-Bid Session

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has taken a significant step towards enhancing power infrastructure in the Ashanti Region with the commencement of the procurement process for the Replacement and Upgrade of the Kumasi Ridge Bulk Supply Point (BSP) 33kV Switchgear and Substation Enhancement Project.

As part of this process, ECG organized a Pre-Bid Meeting to provide prospective contractors with the opportunity to seek clarifications, interact with key project stakeholders, and gain a detailed understanding of the project scope.

Following the meeting, participants embarked on a site visit to the Kumasi Ridge BSP, enabling them to observe the technical and operational requirements firsthand. The delegation was led by the General Manager of Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Ing. Peter Kofi Fletcher, alongside the project team.

The project aims to strengthen the reliability and efficiency of power supply in the Ashanti Region by upgrading critical 33kV switchgear and enhancing the operational capabilities of the substation.

Commenting on the exercise, ECG emphasized that it reflects the Company’s commitment to transparency, fairness in procurement, and continuous investment in critical infrastructure to meet the growing electricity demand in the region.

The Kumasi Ridge BSP upgrade forms part of ECG’s broader strategy to modernize Ghana’s electricity network, reduce outages, and ensure sustainable, reliable power delivery to communities, businesses, and institutions across the Ashanti Region.
