The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its Ambition 2025 strategy, stressing that Artificial Intelligence (AI), coding, and the creativity of young innovators will be the key drivers of growth in the telecommunications industry in the coming years.

Speaking on a radio programme in Accra, Mr. Blewett explained that while the telecommunications sector has traditionally been known for providing connectivity, the future lies in the digital platforms, fintech services, and innovations that ride on top of those networks. “The real growth in telecoms won’t just come from providing connectivity. It will come from the platforms, solutions and innovations built on top of those networks. Think about it—Facebook, WhatsApp and Uber, none of these would exist without the network. That’s where the future lies,” he said.
He emphasized that AI and coding are not mere buzzwords but engines of future transformation, adding that the telecom sector will remain central to Ghana’s economic and social development. “The telecom sector will remain central to economic and social transformation because we provide the backbone that allows all other sectors to innovate and thrive,” Mr. Blewett stated.
Reiterating MTN’s strategic direction, he noted that the Ambition 2025 strategy focuses on building leading digital platforms, expanding financial technology services, and driving inclusive growth that benefits individuals, businesses, and communities.
“At MTN, we’re not just chasing profits, we are chasing impact. Our goal is to create opportunities, to enable young people, businesses, and communities to thrive in a digital economy,” he stressed.
Mr. Blewett further explained that as Ghana’s digital economy expands, MTN will continue to invest in infrastructure, innovation, and partnerships to strengthen its role as a catalyst for development. He pointed out that the future of telecoms is inseparable from the creativity of young innovators who will use coding and AI tools to build solutions that address both local and global challenges.

Industry experts have observed that AI-driven platforms, fintech services, and data-driven innovation will not only transform customer experience but also accelerate growth in education, health, commerce, and agriculture. MTN Ghana’s strategy, they note, places the company at the heart of Ghana’s journey into a technology-driven future.
