The Ghanaian ladies secured qualification in emphatic fashion after overpowering Egypt’s Cleopatra Queens 7–0 on aggregate, a result that has reignited national pride and signaled a powerful resurgence of women’s football in Ghana.
In an official congratulatory statement, Mr. Blewett described the qualification as a well-deserved triumph born out of teamwork, focus, and relentless determination, qualities that reflect the true spirit of Ghanaian excellence. He emphasized that the Black Queens’ dominant display against Egypt demonstrated their readiness to compete at the highest level on the African continent.
“Your spectacular victory is not only a statement of intent but also a reflection of your unity and excellence. You have made the nation proud, and we celebrate this outstanding achievement with you,” Mr. Blewett stated.
He further urged the players and the technical team to remain disciplined and focused as they prepare for the continental showdown in Morocco. Mr. Blewett noted that while qualifying for WAFCON 2026 is a significant accomplishment, maintaining consistency and dedication will be key to achieving greater success on the continental stage.

Reiterating MTN Ghana’s strong commitment to sports development, Mr. Blewett likened the Black Queens’ perseverance and teamwork to MTN’s Can-Do Spirit—a philosophy that embodies courage, innovation, and the belief that with determination, every goal is achievable.
“At MTN, we believe in the Can-Do Spirit — one of perseverance and belief in possibilities. Just as we connect millions and make dreams happen, we are confident that the Black Queens will rise and shine at WAFCON 2026,” he added.
Over the years, MTN Ghana has positioned itself as one of the leading corporate supporters of sports and youth development in Ghana, sponsoring numerous football, athletics, and community engagement initiatives.
