Following the arrest of two Chinese nationals, Li Xinglong, Managing Director and Gao pan, Accountant both workers of Earl International Group (GH) Gold Ltd and a Ghanaian, Michael Atta also a driver of the company at the Kotoka International Airport on June 1, 2021 by the National Security for allegedly possessing 21 gold bars valued at 2 million US dollars, the miner who allegedly claimed to have brought the Chinese into the country has gratefully reacted to the arrest, describing the culprits as clever illegal galamseyers, whose liencise for operations are suspicious and need to be revoked and deported for violating the laws that govern the state mining.
In Mr. Charles Toleog Ndanbong press statement dated June 4, 2021, in addition to a separate telephone interview with this reporter, he is the Managing Director of Yenyeya Mining Company, operates at Gbane, Talensi District in the Upper East Region.
According to him, he brought the Chinese to Ghana about ten years ago, purposely to provide mine support services to his (Ndanbong,s) mining firm ,duly registered as a small scale mining firm, stressing that Li Xinglong allegedly used a Chinese Company Shaanxi to form Earl International Group (GH) Gold Ltd to allegedly operate Illegal mining.
The miner said through dubious partnership, Shaanxi Mining and the so-called sister company Earl International Group GH Gold Ltd invaded Yanyeya minning concessions to operate Illegal mining which was in contravention to the country’s laws.
The two companies Ndanbong said, eventually breached the initial contract agreement of providing mine support
on his concession.
He said as a lawful owner of the concessions the Chinese illegally operate, he could use violence means to quit them but as a peace loving citizen, he decided to be patient and wait for the opportune time when the activities of the Chinese would expose them and was very grateful about their arrest.
He said the Chinese illegally took over nearly fifty acres of his concessions, aside other concessions from other lawful small scale mining firms in the areas, and asked where did they receive lawful mandate to enable them operate as minners.
Terming the three arrested culprits as notorious Illegal minners ,Mr. Ndanbong applauded the National Security Secretariat for the bold and hard work done, hoping that that the whole truth about the activities of the Chinese in the country’s Illegal mining will come out.
