“Sleep on Dr. Adutwum at Your Own Peril” — Spokesperson Rebuts Bryan Acheampong’s Comments.

Yaw Opoku Mensah, Spokesperson for Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum

Yaw Opoku Mensah, spokesperson for NPP flagbearer hopeful and former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has issued a stern warning to rival aspirants—specifically Dr. Bryan Acheampong—against underestimating Dr. Adutwum’s candidacy.

The remarks come in response to a viral video in which Acheampong appeared to downplay Dr. Adutwum’s relevance in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership contest.

Addressing “mischievous” narrative

Mr. Mensah characterized the comments in the video, and similar sentiments shared on various platforms, as a calculated attempt to mislead delegates ahead of the crucial January 31 vote.

He dismissed the narrative that Dr. Adutwum is a peripheral candidate, asserting that such claims are disconnected from the actual sentiments of the party’s grassroots.

He further observed that while some contenders rely on media stunts and personal attacks to remain in the spotlight, they often fail to provide a substantive policy-driven case for their leadership.

“Clean” Candidate:

According to the spokesperson, extensive national engagement with delegates reveals a strong shift toward the former Education Minister. Mensah highlighted several key advantages of Dr. Adutwum’s bid:

Political Integrity:

He described Dr. Adutwum as a “clean” candidate, unburdened by the political baggage or scandals that often haunt long-term politicians.

Grassroots Connection:

He emphasized that Dr. Adutwum possesses a deep understanding of the party’s rank and file and is uniquely attuned to the expectations of the delegates.

Proven Track Record:

His tenure in public service is being framed as a blueprint for the “generational thinking” and “proven reform” the NPP requires to remain competitive.

Towards January 31:

The Adutwum camp remains confident that the party’s next leader must be a visionary capable of repositioning the NPP for long-term electoral success.

“The decision of the delegates will become undeniable when the ballots are counted on January 31,” Mensah concluded, suggesting that the “underdog” narrative will be dismantled by the actual results.
