A major milestone in educational development has been achieved in the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency of the Ashanti Region following the commissioning of a fully financed six-unit classroom block at Nyamebekyere D/A Basic School by the Member of Parliament, Nasira Afrah Gyekye.

The newly completed six-unit classroom block, funded entirely by the MP, replaces the previously inadequate structure that for years posed challenges to effective teaching and learning. The modern facility provides six well-structured classrooms designed to create a safe, comfortable, and conducive environment for both pupils and teachers.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Nasira Afrah Gyekye reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to prioritizing education as the cornerstone of sustainable development within the constituency. She emphasized that leadership must be demonstrated through practical action and meaningful interventions that directly impact lives.

According to her, every child in Sekyere Afram Plains deserves access to quality educational infrastructure that nurtures their potential and prepares them for the future. She explained that her decision to fully finance the six-unit classroom block was driven by her deep concern about the learning conditions of pupils in Nyamebekyere and her strong belief that no child should be disadvantaged due to inadequate facilities.

The facility features spacious and well-ventilated classrooms, durable roofing, proper flooring, secure doors and windows, and improved structural stability capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions. The intervention is expected to significantly enhance academic performance, improve attendance, and boost morale among both learners and staff.

Also present at the ceremony was the District Chief Executive for Sekyere Afram Plains, Abubakar Issaka, who commended the MP for her visionary leadership and dedication to the development of the district. In his address, Hon. Abubakar Issaka described the six-unit classroom block as a transformational project that will have lasting impact on the community. He noted that education remains the most powerful instrument for breaking the cycle of poverty and driving socio-economic progress, and assured residents that the District Assembly will continue to work closely with the MP and stakeholders to accelerate development across the constituency.

Special recognition was given by the chiefs and elders of the Nyamebekyere community, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Nasira Afrah Gyekye, Hon. Abubakar Issaka, and the government for the timely intervention. They described the six-unit classroom block as a life-changing development that will provide hope, opportunity, and a better future for the children of the community.

Community members, parents, teachers, and education officials who attended the ceremony also commended the initiative, emphasizing that the new facility will improve academic outcomes, enhance learning conditions, and inspire the younger generation to achieve excellence.

The commissioning of the Nyamebekyere D/A Basic School six-unit classroom block stands as a testament to responsive and purposeful leadership. Beyond bricks and mortar, it represents an investment in the next generation and a renewed commitment to the advancement of education in Sekyere Afram Plains and Ghana as a whole.
