Two suspected robbers were gunned down at Community 14, near Sakumono in Accra last Thursday (December 15), reports say.

The armed men who were on an unregistered motorbike reportedly stormed a beauty saloon at about 7:15 am and robbed the owner of her mobile phone and an unspecified amount of money.

The incident caught the attention of the officer (name withheld) who was on duty at a retired police chief’s residence, “shot to incapacitate them from escape”, a police incident report had indicated.

The two robbers were confirmed dead by the Police Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds.

Police however discovered that one of the suspects who is facing a court with an accomplice on charges of conspiracy and robbery was involved in this latest incident.

His name has been given as Samuel Yaw Obeng also known as ‘Decider’, the report said.

Bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation.

In a related development, the police are pursuing a gang of robbers who attacked a household and shot two people at Brofoyedu on Thursday (15 December) in the Ashanti Region.

The victims were shot after one of them allegedly struggled with the robbers during the attack, the police statement said.

The police said the victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention but one of them “unfortunately passed on while the other is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition.

“Police have deepened security in the area and intelligence operations are ongoing to get the perpetrators arrested.
