Rotary International has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with traditional authorities in Ghana following a courtesy visit by its President, Mr. Francesco Arezzo, to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 11, 2026.

Mr. Arezzo, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Anna Maria Criscione, paid the visit as part of his official engagements in Ghana. The delegation was received at the Palace by Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, the Bantamahene, who stood in for His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, currently on a leave of absence.

The visit underscored the enduring relationship between Rotary International and Asanteman, particularly in advancing humanitarian interventions and sustainable development initiatives across the Ashanti Region and Ghana at large.

In his welcome remarks, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI conveyed the goodwill of the Asantehene to the Rotary International President and commended Rotary for its impactful contributions to community development. He acknowledged the organization’s interventions in critical sectors such as water and sanitation, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment, noting that such initiatives have significantly improved the livelihoods of many communities.

Mr. Arezzo expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation at the seat of the Asante Kingdom. He emphasized Rotary International’s global mission of “Service Above Self” and reiterated the organization’s dedication to promoting peace, preventing and treating diseases, supporting education, providing clean water and sanitation, protecting the environment, and strengthening local economies.

He further lauded the efforts of Rotarians in Ghana, particularly those within District 9104, for their unwavering commitment to service and community transformation. According to him, collaboration with traditional leaders remains essential in ensuring that development projects are culturally sensitive, inclusive, and sustainable.

The delegation included the District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Nana Yaa Pokua Siriboe; Incoming District Governor Frank Owusu Debrah; Past District Governor Jeffery Afful; Past District Governor David Osei Amankwah Junior; and other senior Rotary officials and members.

The courtesy call at the Manhyia Palace symbolized mutual respect and a shared vision for progress between Rotary International and Asanteman. It also reinforced Rotary’s determination to work closely with traditional institutions to foster unity, social development, and lasting impact in communities.

Mr. Arezzo’s visit is expected to further strengthen Rotary’s presence in Ghana and inspire expanded partnerships aimed at delivering meaningful and sustainable change.
