Rev. Joseph Amo Appeals for Appointment as KMA Boss, Cites Dedication to Kumasi’s Development

Reverend Joseph Amo, the 2020 parliamentary candidate for the Bantama constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a passionate appeal to President John Dramani Mahama and the Ashanti Regional NDC executives to appoint him as the next Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

In an exclusive interview with the media today, Rev. Amo expressed his readiness to assume the role, citing his commitment to the development of Kumasi and his proven track record within the NDC as key qualifications.

“I believe I am a deserving candidate with clear plans to lead the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to new heights. The people of Kumasi have identified me as someone who has the city’s best interests at heart,” he stated confidently.

Rev. Amo highlighted his longstanding contributions to the NDC in the Ashanti Region, where he has played critical roles in strengthening the party’s presence. He noted that his dedication earned him the position of Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Clergy for Mahama’s 2024 Campaign Team, a role in which he mobilized faith-based support for the party. Additionally, he has served as an executive member of the Bantama NDC and was a member of the 2024 NDC campaign team.

While commending President Mahama for appointing two individuals from the Ashanti Region to ministerial roles, Rev. Amo appealed for even greater representation of the region in key government positions.

“I applaud the President for recognizing the Ashanti Region in his recent appointments. However, I humbly request that more appointments be given to the region to reflect its strategic importance and contributions to the NDC,” he remarked.

Rev. Amo emphasized his vision for Kumasi, pledging to prioritize sustainable development, infrastructure expansion, and efficient service delivery if given the opportunity to lead the KMA.

The clergyman and politician believes his appointment would not only bring transformative leadership to Kumasi but also strengthen the NDC’s standing in the Ashanti Region.

As discussions continue around key appointments in the Mahama administration, Rev. Joseph Amo’s candidacy has sparked interest among Kumasi residents and political stakeholders, many of whom see him as a dedicated leader capable of advancing the city’s progress.
