A/R: Alleged robber lynched at Esaso over theft of iron rods and pipes

An alleged male robber has been lynched at Esaso in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District after he was accused of stealing iron rods and plastic pipes in the early hours of Friday, November 7, 2025.

According to reports, the deceased was part of a four-member gang that attempted to transport the stolen items using two tricycles, locally known as aboboyaa around 2 a.m.

The group was reportedly spotted by a resident at the Esaaso New Site, who raised an alarm that drew other members of the community to the scene.

“When they saw that they had been surrounded by residents, they jumped from the tricycles. Three managed to escape, but one person was caught,” an eyewitness recounted.

The two tricycles that were allegedly brought for the operation were later set ablaze by the angry residents.

Despite attempts by the assembly member and some unit committee members to calm the crowd, the mob overpowered them and lynched the suspect.

The body of the deceased was left at the scene, and at the time of filing the report, the police were yet to come to the scene.

Residents told reporters they are frustrated by the rising incidents of theft and robberies in the community and vowed to deal with anyone caught engaging in such activities.
