Pru East MP assures residents of enhanced security on Yeji-Kumasi Highway amid robbery attacks

The Member of Parliament for Pru East in the Bono East Region, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has pledged his commitment to enhanced security protection on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway following recent armed robbery attacks.
Speaking on Ark FM, Hon. Boam revealed that he has convened an emergency security meeting with the District Security Council and heads of various security agencies to urgently address the recent armed robbery cases, particularly the tragic incident on the Yeji Road.
He said that following the intensive discussions, actionable steps have been outlined and will be implemented to restore safety across the constituency.
Boam pledged his commitment to provide financial support for the police to procure fuel for patrols.
However, the MP has called for logistics support to resource police personnel in the area, aiming to effectively curb the recent surge in robbery attacks.
He revealed that currently, the Yeji police command has only one vehicle, hindering the police’s ability to perform their duties effectively.
To address this challenge, MP Boam has reached out to philanthropists and corporate institutions to support the police service with additional resources, including vehicles, to enable them to operate routine services.
Recent escalating insecurity, particularly on the Yeji-Kumasi highway, has brought economic activities in the area to a near standstill, causing fear and panic to road users.
In response to the situation, the MP summoned the Minister for Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, to Parliament to explain what steps the government is taking to restore safety in the area.
Addressing the House, the Interior Minister confirmed that 50 police personnel have been dispatched to the area to address the security challenge.
His questions raised alarm over the growing incidence of armed robbery within his constituency, particularly along the Ejura-Yeji road.
The Pru East MP said, notably, 17 police personnel, part of a 50-man team deployed to tackle robbery attacks, have arrived in Pru East to boost security.
The Pru East MP Emmanuel Boam told the host on Thursday that the rising insecurity in Yeji has crippled economic activity and demands urgent action from the Interior Ministry.
In response to residents’ plans to protest the rampant robbery through demonstrations, the MP urged them to remain calm, assuring that the assembly is actively addressing security concerns in Pru East.
