PRIVATE EDUCATION COALITION, PEC, ENGAGES PARLIAMENTARY SELECT COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION

On Wednesday, 27th July, 2022, a seven member delegation from the Private Education Coalition, PEC, Petitioned Parliament of Ghana on Major Challenges facing Private Education Sector.

Private Education Coalition is an association of seven Private School Associations in the country with a mission to ensure the wellbeing of our members as we serve Ghana, by providing quality Education and secure the best practice policies in the educational sector to promote growth and stability for all Private School Associations across the country.

Presenting to the parliamentary Select Committee on Education, which received the delegation, the coalition strongly emphasized the impeccable contributions of education delivery that come from Private Education Sector and the critical role played by private schools.

The petition captured five cardinal challenges bedeviling Private Education Sector, namely: Curriculum and Assessment training and implementation, Educational Regulatory policies and Compliance, suggestion and Rational to break Waec Monopoly system and General unfair dispositions made by some officials operating in Government agencies under the Ministry of Education; the unfair 30% allocation of category A SHS to public school BECE candidates against the Private Education Sector.
