The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, on Thursday, 16th January, 2025 has officially submitted a list of nominated Regional and Sector Ministers to the Parliament for approval. In a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, the President outlined the names of individuals chosen to oversee key regional and ministry portfolios in his administration.
Regional Ministers:
The following individuals have been selected to serve as Regional Ministers:
1. Wilbert Petty Brentum – Western North Region
2. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere – Central Region
3. Joseph Nelson – Western Region
These individuals are tasked with leading development initiatives, managing regional governance, and driving policies that address the needs of their respective regions.
Ministers of State:
The President has also nominated the following Members of Parliament and individuals to head various Ministries:
1. Kwame Governs Agbodza (MP) – Ministry of Roads and Highways
2. Eric Opoku (MP) – Ministry of Food and Agriculture
3. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey (MP) – Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection
4. Abla Dzifa Gomashie (MP) – Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts
5. Emelia Arthur (MP) – Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture
6. George Opare-Addo – Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment
7. Haruna Iddrisu (MP) – Ministry of Education
8. Ahmed Ibrahim (MP) – Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs
9. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare (MP) – Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry
The nominated individuals are expected to bring their expertise, experience, and commitment to their new roles in order to support the government’s development agenda and work towards sustainable growth across the country.
The names have been submitted to Parliament, and they will undergo the necessary vetting process before they are formally confirmed in their respective positions. The President’s move follows his ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, economic growth, and public service delivery at both regional and national levels.
As the vetting process begins, it is expected that the new appointments will further enhance the government’s focus on key sectors such as education, infrastructure, agriculture, and youth development.
