President Akuffo Addo calls for support from Upper East Region to fight terrorism

The President, Nana Akufo Addo has called for collective efforts to ward off threats of terrorism from neighbouring Burkina Faso. He said it would be better for residents in the region to collaborate with the security apparatus to parry off all threats associated with terrorism.

He said this when he spoke on GBC’s URA Radio in an interview monitored by this website.

“We need the active cooperation of the population for us to make the security response as effective as possible. That is why the National Security Ministry has proposed a campaign; See Something, Say Something which is basically about involving the community, and population in the work of the security agencies.”

Earlier, the President expressed optimism that a good number of hospitals under the Agenda 111 will be completed before he leaves office.

The President said so far 87 of the hospital projects are at various stages of completion. President Akufo Addo speaking on GBC-URA RADIO in Bolgatanga as part of his working visit to the region confessed that some of the targets set for the completion of the projects were overly ambitious.

“As far as Agenda 111 is concerned, I have to confess that some of the targets we set for completing them were overly ambitious. We spent a much longer time agreeing on the sites for the various district hospitals across the country. There was a lot of much more to and froing about where they should be sited than we had anticipated and in fact in some cases is still ongoing.”
