Praise Chamber International Supports Kumasi Prison Inmates with Donation to Mark 50th Anniversary

In a remarkable show of compassion and social responsibility, Praise Chamber International, formerly known as God’s Wonderful Church, has donated a variety of food items and sanitary supplies to inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons.

The donation forms part of activities to mark the church’s 50th anniversary celebration. The church, located at Amakom Lobito in Kumasi, gathered its leadership and members to present the items as a symbol of love, solidarity, and hope for the incarcerated.

The items donated included bags of rice, yams, maize, cooking oil, bottled drinking water, and essential hygiene products — all aimed at improving the living conditions and general welfare of the inmates.

Addressing the gathering during the presentation ceremony, Lady Bishop Florence Konadu Tawiah, General Overseer of Praise Chamber International, emphasized that the initiative was rooted in the church’s deep commitment to community service and the biblical mandate to care for the needy and the forgotten.

“Our Christian duty extends beyond the pulpit,” she stated. “We are called to reach out to those in distress, including the marginalized and imprisoned. Through this donation, we want to send a strong message of hope — that no one is abandoned in the eyes of God.”

Lady Bishop Tawiah further expressed the church’s desire to see more religious and corporate bodies contribute to the well-being of vulnerable groups in society, noting that practical demonstrations of love are critical to building a compassionate and inclusive nation.

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, DCOP Ing. James B. Mwinyelle, Ashanti Regional Commander of Prisons, lauded Praise Chamber International for their thoughtful gesture.

“This donation comes at a crucial time when resources are stretched,” he said. “The needs within our prisons are great, and such support helps us to better cater for the inmates. It also reminds them that society still cares about their welfare and rehabilitation.”

DCOP Mwinyelle used the opportunity to call on other churches, organizations, and individuals to emulate the example set by Praise Chamber International, stressing that collective community involvement is vital for effective rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates.

Also speaking at the event, Rev. Supt. Stella Katso, the Ashanti Regional Chaplain of Prisons, urged members of the public, especially the youth, to make wise decisions in life and avoid behavior that could lead them into conflict with the law.

“Prison life is not easy,” she said. “We encourage everyone to make positive choices that will safeguard their freedom and enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.”

The donation exercise is one of several community-centered activities lined up by Praise Chamber International as part of its golden jubilee celebrations. Other initiatives include health screening programs, evangelism campaigns, youth mentorship programs, and social interventions targeting vulnerable populations.

With 50 years of impactful ministry and community outreach behind them, Praise Chamber International continues to affirm its commitment to not only spiritual growth but also societal transformation through acts of love, service, and empowerment.
