Police Recruitment Screening Begins in Ashanti Region; Unqualified Applicants Warned to Stay Away

The Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region has commenced its recruitment screening exercise, cautioning unqualified applicants to stay away from all designated screening centres to ensure a smooth, orderly, and credible process.

The screening officially began on Monday at the Police Training School at Patasi, focusing on applicants with medical qualifications, degree and HND certificates, as well as skilled workers. The exercise forms part of the Police Service’s nationwide recruitment drive aimed at strengthening the Service with qualified and competent personnel.

Speaking to  Newsmen in an interview, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, disclosed that approximately two thousand applicants had been screened as of the first phase of the exercise. He explained that this initial phase is scheduled to end on Wednesday, after which screening for WASSCE holders will commence.

DSP Ahianyo indicated that adequate arrangements have been made to accommodate the next category of applicants. He announced that from Thursday, four additional screening centres will be operational to serve WASSCE candidates. These centres include Wesley College of Education (WESCO), the Kumasi Sports Stadium, Kumasi Jubilee Park, and the Chirapatre Bus Terminal.

According to the Regional Police PRO, the first day of the exercise was smooth and well-organised, largely due to the effective segmentation of applicants into specific categories and centres. He assured that measures have been put in place to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety and efficiency throughout the screening process.

DSP Ahianyo reiterated a strong warning to individuals who do not meet the recruitment requirements, urging them to desist from reporting to the screening centres, as their presence could disrupt the exercise. He also advised qualified applicants to strictly adhere to their scheduled dates and assigned centres to help maintain order and avoid unnecessary congestion.

Some applicants who participated in the screening exercise praised the Ghana Police Service for the level of organisation and transparency demonstrated, describing the process as one of the most efficient recruitment screenings they had witnessed.

The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a fair, transparent, and professional recruitment exercise as it seeks to enlist disciplined and capable individuals to serve and protect the nation.
