Philanthropist Pledges GHC 3,000 Support for 2025/2026 BECE Candidates, Empowers Students

“Education is the foundation of progress. Many parents face financial challenges in providing for their children, especially in rural areas. This support is my contribution to ensure these students are well-prepared for the future.”

Those were the heartfelt words of Mr. Alex Otoo Boah, a businessman and philanthropist, as he announced a GHC 3,000 support package for each Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate in the Amansie West District. His commitment was revealed at a special ceremony where he donated thousands of learning materials to two rural schools.

The beneficiary schools, Abodom Brofoyedu D/A Basic School and Adwumamu D/A Basic School, received 5,000 exercise books, 2,000 notebooks, 1,000 pens, and mathematical sets. The supplies, he explained, were meant to ease the heavy burden on parents who struggle to provide basic resources for their children’s education.

Parents and community members erupted in applause as Mr. Otoo Boah presented the items, a gesture they described as “a beacon of hope” for rural education. Teachers at the schools also praised his generosity, noting that such interventions are crucial in motivating students to pursue academic excellence.

Receiving the items on behalf of the schools, Hon. Mark Asamoah, Assembly Member for the Abodom Brofoyedu Electoral Area, expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Otoo Boah.

“This kind gesture has brought relief not just to parents, but to the entire community. It shows what a single person’s commitment to education can do,” Hon. Asamoah said.

Mr. Benjamin Kwadwo Addai, Assistant Headteacher of Brofoyedu D/A Basic School, also lauded Mr. Otoo Boah for his dedication to education, calling on other successful Ghanaians to follow his example.

The announcement of GHC 3,000 financial aid for each BECE candidate was met with excitement, as parents and students saw it as a major step toward bridging the gap between rural and urban education.

This act of philanthropy underscores the power of community-led initiatives in transforming education and investing in the future of Ghana’s children.
