Philanthropist Kofi Job Pays GH¢1 Million to Clear Medical Bills and Support Hospitals in Kumasi

In a heartwarming act of generosity, Kofi Job, a prominent Ghanaian road contractor and philanthropist, has donated a staggering GH¢1,000,000 to settle the medical bills of 213 patients in Kumasi. This benevolent gesture was carried out through the Kofi Job Foundation and also included the repair and purchase of essential health equipment for beneficiary hospitals.

The recipients of this life-changing support were Kumasi South Hospital, Old Tafo Government Hospital, and Manhyia District Hospital. Kofi Job personally visited these hospitals on Wednesday, where he handed over the funds directly to hospital management and interacted with patients.

Among the beneficiaries were patients in dire need of medical interventions. At the Kumasi South Hospital, he settled GH¢120,000 in bills for chemotherapy and surgeries for two children suffering from cancerous conditions, including renal cancer and retinoblastoma.

Some new arrivals at the hospital forecourts who seized the opportunity to plead for assistance were not left out. The philanthropist generously provided GH¢3,000 and GH¢2,000 to some individuals for the purchase of prescribed drugs and other expenses.

Accompanying Kofi Job were his wife, Dr. Esther Gyebi, Archbishop Akwasi Asare Bediako of the Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries, and other prominent clergy from the Upper Room Assemblies of God Church. Together, they not only offered financial assistance but also prayed for the speedy recovery of the patients.

Speaking to journalists, Kofi Job expressed deep sadness over the plight of the sick, emphasizing how poverty contributes to the rising number of deaths in hospitals.

“I have realized that the cause of the number of deaths in our hospitals partly has to do with poverty,” he said. “I’m so much saddened, and my prayer is that God should keep blessing me so I can continue supporting the needy.”

He urged institutions and individuals to step up and assist the vulnerable in society, stressing that the government alone cannot address all societal challenges.

Dr. Alimatu Salam, a pediatric oncologist at the Kumasi South Hospital, and others from Tafo Government Hospital and Manhyia District Hospital expressed gratitude on behalf of the medical staff and patients.

“We truly appreciate what Mr. Kofi Job has done. We pray that God blesses him abundantly and replenishes all he has given,” she said.

Kofi Job’s philanthropic gesture underscores the critical role of individual and institutional support in improving healthcare access and saving lives in Ghana.
