Philanthropist Donates GH₵10,000 Worth of Sanitary Items to Nkawie-Toase Hospital MBU

The Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) of the Nkawie-Toase Government Hospital, the premier health facility in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly, has once again received a generous donation from philanthropist Mr. Akwasi Agyemang and his wife, owners of Man Man Company Limited. The couple donated sanitary items and essential consumables valued at GH₵10,000 to support neonatal and maternal care at the facility.
The donation, presented on Friday, November 21, 2025, included baby diapers, wipes, mosquito nets, beverages, bottled water, and the settlement of medical bills for some mothers and their babies. The gesture formed part of activities marking this year’s Preterm Day celebration observed by the MBU.
This latest support follows a major donation made by the couple just last year, when they presented a Fire Fly phototherapy machine worth GH₵65,000 to the hospital. The equipment—rare within the region—plays a critical role in treating babies born with severe jaundice, significantly enhancing the hospital’s capacity for neonatal care.
Medical experts describe preterm babies as those born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed, often requiring specialized and delicate care.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital’s management, Mrs. Catherine Agyemang, a Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Agyemang and his wife for their consistent and impactful contributions to quality healthcare delivery.
She noted that the Fire Fly phototherapy machine has drastically reduced the MBU’s dependency on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and other advanced facilities for neonatal treatment. According to her, “babies are no longer being transferred due to the unavailability of essential equipment,” a development she described as a great relief to both staff and mothers.

Mrs. Agyemang encouraged other benevolent individuals and corporate institutions to emulate the exemplary generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Agyemang, stressing that collective support is vital to improving healthcare outcomes in the municipality.
