Philanthropist Alexander Otoo Buah Fulfils Promise to BECE Graduates in Manso Brofoyedru — Donates GH¢2,000 and Mattresses to Each Student

A renowned Ghanaian philanthropist, Mr. Alexander Otoo Buah, has once again demonstrated his deep commitment to education and youth empowerment by fulfilling a promise he made to all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in Manso Brofoyedru, a community in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
At a colourful presentation ceremony held in the community, Mr. Otoo Buah donated GH¢2,000 in cash and a student mattress to each of the 30 BECE graduates, fulfilling his earlier pledge to support every student who successfully completed the BECE in the area. The gesture forms part of his long-term vision to promote education and reduce the number of school dropouts in rural communities.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Otoo Buah recalled that he had promised all BECE candidates in Manso Brofoyedru that upon completing their examinations and gaining admission into Senior High School, he would provide them with both financial and material support to ease their transition. “I made a promise to all the BECE candidates in this community that I would stand by them when they move to senior high school — and today, I am here to honour that promise,” he said. “My goal is to ensure that no child in Manso Brofoyedru is left behind because of poverty or lack of support.”

He explained that his continuous support for education in the Abodom-Brofoyedru Electoral Area was driven by his belief that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and unlocking opportunities for the next generation. “When we invest in the education of our children, we secure the future of our community,” he emphasized.

Mr. Otoo Buah has over the years earned the admiration of residents for his tireless efforts in promoting education. Earlier this year, he donated 15,000 exercise books to schools within the Abodom-Brofoyedru Electoral Area, a gesture that significantly eased the burden on parents and encouraged effective teaching and learning. This latest donation, coupled with his previous interventions, underscores his consistency and genuine dedication to improving education in the area.

Beyond his support for academic pursuits, Mr. Otoo Buah also revealed that his vision extends to helping young people who may not be academically inclined but are passionate about learning a trade or developing practical skills. He stated that he has plans to support youth interested in vocational training, such as tailoring, fashion design, hairdressing, cake making, and other handiworks, to enable them to build sustainable livelihoods. “Not every young person may go far in formal education, but everyone deserves the chance to learn a skill and live a decent life,” he said. “That is why I am also supporting those willing to learn trades — because they, too, are part of the community’s growth.”

The Assembly Member for the Abodom-Brofoyedru Electoral Area, Hon. Mark Asamoah, praised Mr. Otoo Buah for his generosity and unwavering commitment to the educational progress of the area. He noted that the philanthropist’s continued interventions — from the donation of exercise books to providing financial aid to BECE graduates — have made a significant difference in the lives of students and parents alike. “Mr. Otoo Buah has proven that he truly cares about the future of our youth. His actions speak louder than words, and the people of this community are very grateful,” Hon. Asamoah said.

Parents of the beneficiaries expressed immense gratitude, noting that the support had lifted a heavy financial burden off their shoulders. They thanked Mr. Otoo Buah for keeping his word and showing genuine concern for the welfare of their children. The students, visibly excited, pledged to make their benefactor proud through hard work and discipline. “We will not disappoint Mr. Otoo Buah. We will study hard and make him proud one day,” one of the beneficiaries said with excitement.

In conclusion, Mr. Otoo Buah reaffirmed his determination to continue supporting education and youth development in the Abodom-Brofoyedru Electoral Area and beyond. He said his mission was to empower every young person — whether academically gifted or skilled in handiwork — to become productive and self-reliant citizens.

For the people of Manso Brofoyedru, Mr. Alexander Otoo Buah stands as a beacon of hope and a true friend of education. His fulfilled promises, consistent contributions, and plans for skill development have made him a cornerstone in the community’s journey toward sustainable growth and transformation.
