Philanthropist Akwasi Owusu ‘Lion’ Extends Multi-Million Cedi Support to Akatakyieso Residents

Philanthropist and businessman, Mr. Michael Akwasi Owusu, popularly known as “Lion “has extended multi-million cedi humanitarian support to residents of Akatakyieso in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, reinforcing his commitment to improving livelihoods and supporting vulnerable groups within the community.

Mr. Owusu, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Smart Mickey Mining Company, stressed the importance of collective responsibility in community development, noting that sustainable progress can only be achieved when individuals and corporate entities actively support education, healthcare delivery, security, and social welfare initiatives.

The donation exercise saw the distribution of food items, clothing, and cash support to widows, orphans, the aged, and other vulnerable persons. The items included bags of rice, cartons of mackerel, packs of chicken, assorted foodstuffs, clothing items, as well as undisclosed amounts of cash. The total value of the donation was estimated at millions of Ghana cedis, directly benefiting hundreds of individuals and impacting over one thousand residents across the community.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Akwasi Owusu explained that the gesture formed part of his continuous efforts to ease hardship at the grassroots level and to complement government interventions aimed at improving living conditions in rural communities. He called on other well-meaning individuals and business operators within the district to emulate such initiatives by investing in community-centred development programmes.

In addition to the support extended to vulnerable groups, Mr. Owusu also provided assistance to traditional authorities in Akatakyieso, acknowledging their critical role in maintaining peace, unity, and development within the area

Traditional leaders and community members expressed profound appreciation for the gesture. Nana Nuako Nuamah, Chief of Akatakyieso, commended Mr. Owusu for his sustained commitment to community development, particularly in the areas of education, health, and security, describing him as a dependable development partner whose generosity continues to uplift lives.

Beneficiaries of the donation expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that both the items and the cash support would significantly ease their daily challenges, while offering prayers for God’s continued blessings and success in Mr. Akwasi Owusu’s personal and business endeavours.
