The Pentecostal Church of Christ in the Asante Akyem South District has celebrated its annual Homecoming in a colorful and spirit-filled gathering that brought together members, pastors, and dignitaries from far and near.

The event, held at the Ofoase branch, was marked by vibrant worship, thanksgiving, and reflection on the church’s growth, unity, and contributions to community development. It served as a reunion for old and current members while strengthening the bond of faith among the congregation.

Delivering the keynote message, Senior Ordained Pastor Twum Barima called on Christians to rise beyond celebration and take a bold stand on pressing social issues affecting their communities. He lamented the devastating impact of illegal mining (galamsey) in the Ofoase area, noting how it has destroyed water bodies, degraded fertile lands, and wiped out portions of virgin forest. “We cannot celebrate in joy while our rivers are poisoned, our forests destroyed, and our farmlands rendered useless. As a church, we must unite with government and community leaders to fight galamsey and protect God’s creation,” Pastor Barima charged.

He further urged Christians to see the fight against galamsey as both a civic and spiritual responsibility, reminding them that safeguarding the environment is part of honoring God’s work.

Adding his voice, Rev. Atta Bannor, Chairman of the Council of Churches in Asante Akyem South, encouraged the public to report illegal mining activities to traditional leaders and authorities to ensure collective action against the menace.

The Homecoming was also characterized by cultural displays, soul-lifting music, testimonies of faith, and renewed commitment to spreading the gospel. Members expressed joy at reconnecting with one another and reaffirmed their dedication to the mission and growth of the Pentecostal Church of Christ.

The celebration ended on a note of unity, thanksgiving, and a renewed pledge to combine faith with social responsibility in addressing challenges facing the district.
