A pastor at Life and Resurrection church in Eastern province has been arrested for defiling a 14 year old girl.
Meanwhile, a Lundazi based musician Moses Banda popularly known as ‘Mozy B’ has died after his canoe capsized while shooting a music video.
In the earlier case, Emmanuel Liyato 36 has been arrested and charged with defilement of a child under the age of 16.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the incident happened yesterday at around 20:00 hours at the pastors house in Kalongwezi Township in Chipata.
“Brief facts of the matter are that on the 12th November,2022, the victim aged 14 was sent by the mother to buy some groceries at a nearby shop that is where she met with the pastor who took her to his house and had canal knowledge of her,”
Mr Hamoonga said the suspect is detained in Police Custody and will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, a Lundazi based Musician Moses Banda popularly knownas ‘Mozy B’ has died after his canoe capsized while shooting a music video.
Mozy B’s Tumbuka language hits such as “Nipeniko Nyanga Agogo” are loved by many in Eastern province of Zambia and Malawi.
Mr Hamoonga said said three unidentified people managed to swim for safety when the boat they were in capsized at Mapala Dam.
“The incident occurred on 13th November, 2022 at around 09:00 hours when the four went to shoot a video for their new song unfortunately the boat they were in capsized.
The body of the deceased has been retrieved and deposited in Chipata Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting Post-mortem and burial,” he said.
