Palmar International School Holds 9th Graduation Ceremony with a Stirring Call for Stronger School-Parent Collaboration
Palmar International School, one of the leading basic schools in the Ashanti Region, on Friday celebrated its 9th Graduation Ceremony with a heartfelt message centered on the shared responsibility of schools and parents in shaping the future of children. The event, which took place on the school’s premises, was held under the theme “Shaping Young Minds, Building a Brighter Future – The Role of the School and the Parents.”

The ceremony was graced by a host of dignitaries including the Chairman of the occasion, the school’s Director of Operations, the Deputy Headmaster, PTA Chairman, staff, students, and many proud parents. In his keynote address, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Emmanuel K. Frimpong, extended his warmest congratulations to the graduating students for successfully completing their academic journey at Palmar International School. He described the occasion as not just a celebration of academic achievement, but also a reflection on the important roles that both educational institutions and parents play in the holistic development of children.

Mr. Frimpong explained that shaping the mind involves the deliberate guidance and nurturing of a child’s intellectual, emotional, and social development. Citing research, he emphasized that the age range from birth to 18 years is the most critical period in a child’s life where their mindset, worldview, and character are formed. He drew attention to how different stages of a child’s growth — from early childhood through adolescence — present various windows of opportunity to positively influence their development.

He acknowledged that while the school environment plays a pivotal role in shaping young minds by providing quality education, a safe atmosphere, and encouraging critical thinking and positive relationships, parents are equally vital partners in this process. According to him, children thrive best when their homes are filled with encouragement, educational support, and guidance. He highlighted that when parents take an active interest in their children’s academic progress, celebrate their successes, and work closely with teachers, they help build a strong foundation for their child’s future.

Mr. Frimpong also noted that providing children with stimulating resources at home, such as books and newspapers, and reading with them regularly, goes a long way in nurturing their love for learning. He pointed out that proper parenting, including ensuring children receive a balanced diet and emotional support, contributes significantly to their academic and personal growth. He emphasized that these efforts from parents complement the work of schools, creating a powerful partnership that helps shape well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals.

Turning to the graduating students, Mr. Frimpong delivered a touching message of motivation. He reminded them that graduation is not the end of the road but the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and self-discovery. He encouraged them to remain curious, embrace challenges, and always believe in their potential. He expressed confidence that with the foundation they had received from both their teachers and parents, they were well-prepared to face the next phase of their academic lives and contribute positively to society.

The Headmaster concluded his speech by thanking the school’s dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff for their unwavering commitment, and also expressed profound gratitude to parents for their trust and support throughout the academic year. He praised the collaborative efforts that have made Palmar International School a beacon of excellence in education.

The ceremony was filled with joy and excitement as students entertained the audience with cultural displays, poetry recitals, and musical performances. Graduands received their certificates amidst cheers and applause from family and friends, marking a proud moment in their young lives. Awards were also presented to deserving students and staff who had distinguished themselves in various academic and leadership roles throughout the year.

The 9th Graduation Ceremony of Palmar International School will be remembered not only for its pomp and pageantry but also for the powerful reminder that building a brighter future for children requires the active and united efforts of both schools and parents. With continued collaboration and commitment, the school reaffirmed its pledge to nurture the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and changemakers.
