A commercial farmer, Mr. Henry Samuel Nii Ayibotey has Been crowned the overall Best Farmer in Asante Akyem Municipality for 2021.
For his prize, Nii Ayibotey received a Solon Matiz car and farming materials, like cutlasses, spray machine and others.
The first runner up, received a aboboyaa tricycle and farming materials.
The second runner up, also Honoured Aboboyaa tricycle and farming materials.
The Asante Akyem South Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alexander Frimpong who is also a Dean of Ashanti Regional MMDCEs has awards 25 gallant farmers instead of giving 7 farmers gift.
This year’s celebration was on the theme “planting for food and jobs consolidating food systems in Ghana, the program was graced by the MCE, Hon. Alexander Frimpong also the dean of Ashanti Regional MMDCES, The member of Parliament for the area who also the deputy Minister of railway development, Proff. Kenneth Atefa, Executive Secretary NIA, Hon. William Yamoah who works at office of vice President, Assembly members, eminent Chiefs in the Asante Akyem South.
As early as 8am, hundreds of people from the length and brenth of Asante Akyem South thronged to the Banso R/C school park to join the celebration.
Addressing Nananom, Honorable MCE said consolidating food systems would require the supply of inputs, production of crops, livestock, land other Agriculture commodities.
The government is working hard to support the local Agriculture sector to produce more to the nation and extra for exports to reduce the food importation burden in the country. He added that through planting for food and jobs program Asante Akyem Agogo export plantain to Burkina Faso, Mali, Benin, Togo, etc.
The Chief of Banso who was the chairman of occasion, commended the MCE for the gift of the pride. “For the first time a district award a brand new car to the best Farmer, it’s unprecedented”
